Puppy Linux 4.00で解像度の指定ができません

　初めて書き込みさせていただきます。どうぞよろしくお願いします。
　私の使用しているノートパソコンでは、Puppy Linux 4.00の起動時、X serverの選択画面でXorgを選択するとうまくいかず、Xvesaでやり直すと、解像度が640×480になってしまいます。(他に選択肢が表示されず、640×480しか選ぶことができません。）
　ちなみに、Puppy Linux 2.16、Puppy Linux 3.01では、Xorgを選択することができ、解像度も1024×768を選ぶことができました。
　Puppy Linux 4.00で解像度1024×768で表示をさせる方法をご教示ください。

　当方のPCのスペックを記載させていただきます。
　富士通　FMV-610NU2
　CPU モバイル インテル(R) Celeron(R) プロセッサ 1066MHz
　メモリ　１GB
　チップセット　Intel(R) 830MG
　ディスプレイ(解像度、表示色数)　1024×768ドット1677万色

i830チップセットはあまり聞いたことがないですが、
i810、i845、i855でも問題なくXorgで動作していますので
動作できないとは考えにくいですね。

提案
1. 4.00ではなく4.1.1ではどうでしょう？
　4.00でなければならない明確な理由がないなら最新版の使用をおすすめします。

2. CDからの起動なら、CDを作成した元のisoファイルのMD5SUMは合っていますか？
　CD作成時にベリファイを行って正しくCDが書き込まれたかをチェックされましたか？

3. 現在の/etc/xorg.confはどうなっていますか？
　差し支えなければ内容をコピーしてここに貼り付けてみていただけますか？

　ご指摘の3点、行いました。しかし、残念ながら状況は変わりません。
　1. 4.1.1をダウンロードし、起動を試みましたが、改善はありませんでした。
　2. 4.1.1CD作成時にベリファイを行い、正しくCDが書き込まれたか確認しました。
　　ただし、MD5SUMの比較は当方の知識不足により、方法がわからず、行うことができませんでした。
　3. /etc/X11/xorg.confの内容を貼り付けさせていただきます。

う〜ん、何か不明なグラフィックチップと認識していますね。
簡単にググってみましたが、やはりパピーのxorgwizardではi830の認識に問題があるようです。

ここに日立のi830マシンで同様に3.01ではXorg動作可能、
4.00ではXvesa固定で解像度がでないと報告があり、結果解決していない？みたいです。

ダメモトかもしれませんが下の方にある

富士通のst4110 tabletPCで3.01では問題なかったが4.10にしたら解像度がでないと…
ビデオチップはi830ですね。
この中で開発者のBarryさんが
Puppy 3.01はXorg 7.2で、Puppy 4.xはXorg 7.3になっているが
一部の古いビデオチップで動作しないとのフィードバックがある。
Puppy4.2ではXorg 7.4を採用する予定なので直っていることを期待している
とコメントしていますね。

さらに質問者に対して、
Intelのビデオチップ用のドライバを7.2時代の古いものに差し替えてみてはどうかと提案していますが、
質問者はHDDが壊れており、(CD起動のみなので？)試せないと回答して終わっています。
以下にその方法を

上記引用ページの下の方からi810_drv.so.gzをダウンロードして解凍
/usr/X11R7/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/i810.drv.soを削除して
そこへダウンロードして解凍したi810_drv.soをコピー
xorg.confのドライバ指定は"i810"

でいかがでしょうか。

　ドライバの差し替えを試してみたいと思います。
　これがうまくいかなくても、Puppy4.2になれば、もしかすれば、改善するかもしれないのですね。

　Driver "i810" #card0driverと書き換えて、
　i810_drv.so を上書きしたところ、解像度が1024×768になりました。
　その状態で「PuppyライブCDのリマスタ」でCDを作りなおしたので、起動時、特になにもしなくても解像度は1024×768です。
